"An egg? Why is there an egg here?! Marina! We need to get this egg to Marina!"
No one knew how long the egg had been there; but it had been hidden in the clouds when Faerieland had still been in the sky, so there wasn't much hope for the occupant...
As the egg arrived at the Healing Springs, more and more faeries appeared, the word was going around about the discovered mystery egg. Marina held the egg, but didn't exude much hope. She was half convinced the egg was dead. Regardless, she lowered it into the springs gently, and let the waters caress the shell.
Color began to return to the egg, and after just a few moments, the egg wriggled from the movements inside. With a gasp, Marina brought the egg back to the surface, and just in time, as there was a crack, and a little purple eye peered out.
Placing the egg on the edge of the springs, the faeries all watched with baited breath as the cutest infant Faerie Shoyru made her way out of her home. With wide blinking eyes, the egg's inhabitant looked around, and then... she barked.

He is the one man show for the Maraquan Petpet Rescue, and allowed me to visit and learn about his operation.
Tiny was found in the streets of Meridell; and has stunted growth; maybe if you feed her a doughnutfruit you can make a new friend?
Roast came to us because his owners did not fireproof their house. He loves to play fetch, and would make a great companion for any Neopet that doesn't mind his scorchiness.
Wog prefers to be alone, and will never willingly be in the spotlight; this little guy probably will always hide and avoid contact. A bowl with plenty of food is all he needs.
Azalea while named after a delicate flower; she is anything but. She stomps, roars, and takes what she wants. But don't worry, she has a soft side too... somewhere...
Aurelian is a bit on the high emotional need side, and will need to be kept within sight to avoid any separation anxiety.
Rose was too active for her former family, so she needs a very lively family that won't leave her alone.
Slimer has a big squishy heart; but his former family couldn't get over his appearance. If given daily baths, the drippings aren't as noticeable...
Ugg Ugg would be happiest in a quiet and calm home, as he prefers to relax in the shade and ponder the meaning of life.
Sparky has bounced around a bit. He needs a home that won't melt with his extreme temperatures.
Squirt needs to be an only pet; as she won't compete for food, and does not get along well with others.
Cutie Pie is an easy going and silly slorg. They love to say hello, and are constantly wandering into accidental troubles. Always good for a smile.
Xander loves to be where it's cold, and he gets overheated very easily. Best kept in larger groups of fluffy buddies.
Lux used to be dull and grey, and blend into the background, but since she got her colors she's much more vibrant and fun to be around.
Boaz a troublemaker, but very loving once her loyalty has been won. Prefers to be loose inside of a neohome or protected garden. New owners MUST secure any possible escape points.
Zippy This soft petpet is crazy active, and only stops to sleep. When not stimulated enough they can become destructive.
Benjamin Perfectly content to watch the world go by; he also likes to munch all day long. This guy will have to be coaxed into daily exercise.
Sibling Rivalry
Malva's egg hatched first in the nest, and when she saw that there was another egg about to hatch, all she saw was red. The first opportunity to take the egg out of the nest brought Mal to hiding it in a small cloud, and blowing the cloud as far away as she could with her wings. Her parents were heartbroken, but never suspected her. Eventually, she realized that her jealousy had truly ruined 4 lives, and she wished and wished she could undo her terrible deed. Unfortunately, Malva's impulsive behavior only worsened over time, and her name morphed to show it. As an adult; MallignantSpirit, is known as a theif.
Many, many years later she heard a bark over at the Petpet Pound. What on Neopia is that? She wandered over, and what she saw brought such joy to her heart, she couldn't even breath... could it truly be her?

Her back is just above knee high to a Faerie, this smooth skinned purple dragon is unusual for shoyrus in that she is quadropeda, and only has two wing sections, unlike the typical faerie variant of 4. Her mental state is that of a child, due to her unusual hatching situation; and will unlikely change.
Shy lives in Faerieland (before it fell, cause I hate it on the ground) with a Light Faerie named Persipha, that adopted her after she hatched from her egg. and Spikae. Together they run a petpet pound, which helps abandoned and lost petpets find a new furever family, emergency care, and training.
She's traveled to Mystery Island to see Kat, and to Maraqua to meet Drak.
Flying Lessons
How Shy met Sol
It was Shyraea's birthday, but she didn't really feel like celebrating. She now had year left here Faerieland City, Her Glimpse was looming and if she couldn't fly by that time, She was gonna be deported out of Faerieland....
Persipha & Spikae noticed her gloominess, especially since Shy barely touched her birthday cupcake. They just looked at each other sadly, as there wasn't anything they could do, but enjoy the time they had left with their sweet friend.
As the months passed by, Shy's flight inability never changed. She spent hours every day building up her started Wings strength, but she could not seem to actually achieve, lift and movement. the other Faeries at school had started to tease and shun her. Only a few other students (even teachers) continued to even acknowledge her presence.
Solanette, a faerie yurble, who was a class below her, watched Shyraea deal with the teasing and shunning with incredible grace, was greatly saddened by the whole situation. "She knew that Shy helped out at The Faerieland City Petpet Pound in her downtime from school, and that Persipha would be crushed when Shyraea was deported if her Glimpse failed. Sol followed Shyraea one afternoon after school, to see what she had been going for flight practice. Her kepru, Sophie was being exceptionally spazzy that afternoons, and wouldn't be quiet. Finally Sol found a bumbluz in a tree, and sent Sophie after it.
Solanette turned back to tracking the small Shoyru and realized she'd lost track of Shyraea's trail. It took some searching, but Sol soon found the little clearing that Shy had set up near the edge of the Pink Mountains range. She hid herself just out of sight and watched as the Shoyru pulled boulders, flapped at nearby cloud bushes, and leapt from ledges and attempted to glide, but she mostly just slowed her fall. The sweat of desperate determination showed on Shy's face and body as she pushed every limit.
In horror, Sol watched Shyraea, intent on lifting a huge pink rock on her left wing, dropped it, lost her balance and fell off the edge of the cloud bank, in a moment of pure panic Spikae screamed which broke Sol out of her statuesque position and She sprinted over the edge after Shy.
Sol dove as smoothly as a knife through the air after the terrified and flailing Shoyru, doggedly closing the gap. But would she reach Shyraea before the impending crash with the rapidly approaching earth? Sol roared at Shy to reach out; and they narrowly missed smashing into the tan rocks of the deserted island, but instead hurtled together into the sea, skipping like stones. After they stopped bouncing, they both paddled to shore and lay on the beach just breathing and happy to be alive.
After they caught their collective breath, Shyraea and Sol sat and chatted About Shy's impending Glimpse and what all it entailed. Shyraea explained that since her true age was unknown, the Council had given her a little bit of leeway but now it was time, and she had to fulfill all of the requirements: 1. the ability to fly the skills course, 2. pass the health screening, and 3. the written citizenship test.
She had finally felt competent with the citizenship test after completing a prep course for it, and she had outgrown most of her dragonling's health issues. But Shyraea still couldn't fly...
Sol felt a bit shocked when she herself volunteer to give Shyraea lessons, especially when she had no idea how they were even going to get back to Faerieland at all from this island. No-one even knew one they were here, so who would rescue them? Sol's wings were still some time away from drying out and even if they were dry, she couldn't carry a Shoyru, even such a petite one as Shy was. Sol could barely fly when holding..... an idea struck Solanette so hard she about fell over, their Petpets! If they could get their petpet's attention, they could fly and get help!

Spikae
the Faerie Sauropod
Spikae's most notable characteristic is being "mute", as she almost never speaks. Not because she can't, but because she chooses not to. Spikae chooses to be silent in order to hear the "singing" of the plants before deciding what she wants to eat; and maintains that those around her do not hear these "songs" because they are always talking. She also prefers not to talk because she dislikes the excessive arguing those around her often get into. Spikae is generally very laid-back and relaxed. Despite never talking, she is generally connected with what her owner is doing. She is probably just as intelligent as Shyraea, if not more so, and she is quite observant; noticing the traits of everyone and everything around her. She is also very confident and brave, although she admits to preferring a sedentary lifestyle; staying home and eating, over adventuring, as Shyraea is wont to do.
Spikae is a fun-loving dragon, although she feels insecure and jealous when Shyraea finds a new friend (almost weekly). Despite her avoidance of speech, Spikae is a sarcastic soul, and sometimes laughs at others' misfortunes, even though she usually means well. She is expressive through body language and Shy seems to understand her almost telepathically, alhtough neither exhibits the signs of that otherwise.

It had been a long flight; and Spikae's snoring was starting to get on Shy's nerves. Shy shook her shoulders to wake up Spikae, and while groggily stretching Spikae fell off. Shy watched her struggle to get righted, but it only took a second for Spikae to match Shyraea's wing strokes.
She was both excited and nervous, as this was her first solo flight over such a distance, and her training at the Mystery Island Aquarium & Zoo. This was a big step in her career path. It was sink or swim now; no going back. As she kept worrying, the Islands came into sight. Techo Mountain was an awe inspiring sight. So large and forboding. She turned to the corner of the island that held her destination. In just a few moments, an Aisha came into view; waiting patiently at the entrance.
After an uneventful landing, Kat padded softly over to Shyraea, as the little dragon hadn't moved since landing a few moments ago, and she introduced herself. Shy nodded and started following Kat's lead into the antechamber of the facility. All the guards simply nodded at Kat and they walked back into the Employee only area, and got Shy's things taken care of. Without any words, they started viewing all the different exhibits, following a scheduled tour, which saved Kat from having to introduce Shy to the facility herself. As the tour wrapped up; Kat got Shy's attention and they slipped back into the staff lounge.
Kat looked at her new little charge, with a little bit of trepidation, wondering if Shyraea was up to this or not. "So, what did you think of it?" Kat asked her. Shy just nodded happily, and Kat's fears choked her throat closed. *How can I teach someone that can't vocalize and have a conversation?!? her voiced shrieked in her head.
"I would like to see the cephalopods again please," Shyraea very carefully said, "I don't get to see anything like them up in Faerieland, and would like to study their eating habits and methods."
Kat heaved a big sigh of relief, and together they went back into the aquarium, and together they delved into the biology, and in the process, a great friendship was struck.
